We Live For The Lord – Rom. 14:7-8

We Live For The Lord – Rom. 14:7-8

Note again Paul’s statement: “For not one of us lives for himself, and not one dies for himself; for if we live, we live for the Lord, or if we die, we die for the Lord; therefore whether we live or die, we are the Lord's” (Rom. 14:7-8)

Jesus is LORD. Jesus is LORD of the dead and the living. Jesus is OUR LORD. Jesus is MY LORD. So what?

My life is to be lived in service to HIM.  Philippians 1:21: “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.” Galatians 2:20: “"I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.”

As a disciple of Jesus, I have made His teaching the rule of my life. Matthew 28:18-20: “18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

As my Lord, I am obedient to all of his commandments. Luke 6:46: “"Why do you call Me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say?”

It is easy to read these things, but it is another thing entirely to live them. The biggest obstacle is ME – my thoughts, my desires, my choices. Such self-centered thinking is at the root of almost all inter-personal relationship problems (i.e., church problems). Let me learn to live for the Lord. How are you doing with this?
