A Trustworthy Statement - Titus 3:5-8

A Trustworthy Statement - Titus 3:5-8
5 He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,
7 so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. 8 This is a trustworthy statement; and concerning these things I want you to speak confidently, so that those who have believed God will be careful to engage in good deeds. These things are good and profitable for men. (Titus 3:5-8).

We have been saved by the grace of God. He provided His son as the sacrifice for and the propitiation of our sins. He cleanses us. He forgives us. He makes us alive in Christ. He raised us up. (read again Col. 2:10-13! – see below). We are to be ‘rich in good works’ (1Tim. 6:18). We are to be zealous for every good deed (Titus 2:14). The ESV translated verse 8 and 14 as ‘to be devoted’ to good works.

Can we believe such? Can we TRUST such? Yes, for God said so.

Therefore, we now live FOR Him. We are now servants of God and righteousness (Rom. 1:16-17). We not only consider ourselves ‘dead TO sin’ (Rom. 6:11), but we are alive unto good works. NOW We are to be ‘rich in good works’ (1Tim. 6:18). We are to be zealous for every good deed (Titus 2:14). The ESV translated verse 8 and 14 as ‘to be devoted’ to good works. Having turned away from evil, we have turned to walk in goodness, righteousness, and holiness.

What good deeds will you engage in today?
