Aaronic Priesthood - Ex. 28 and Hebrews

Aaronic Priesthood - Ex. 28 and Hebrews

 Aaron – Priesthood

They offered only animal sacrifices .. Heb. 10:1-4

Once a year entered Holy of Holies, but not without blood – 9:7

Blood of bulls and goats – Heb. 10:4

They sinned - Heb. 7:27; 9:7

Hebrews 7:27 - "who does not need daily, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the sins of the people, because this He did once for all when He offered up Himself."

Hebrews 9:7 - "but into the second, only the high priest enters once a year, not without taking blood, which he offers for himself and for the sins of the people committed in ignorance."

They died - Heb. 7:23

Hebrews 7:23 - "The former priests, on the one hand, existed in greater numbers because they were prevented by death from continuing,"

They served in the 'type' and not in heaven -

Hebrews 8:5 - "who serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly things, just as Moses was warned by god when he was about to erect the tabernacle; for, “see,” he says, “that you make all things according to the pattern which was shown you on the mountain.”"  (also see Heb. 9:1-9)

Part of OLD / First Covenant

Jesus - OUR High Priest

Offered HIMSelf - Heb. 9:12

Hebrews 9:12 - "and not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, He entered the holy place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption."

Sinless - Heb. 4:15; 7:26

Hebrews 4:15 - "For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin."

Lives forever to make intercession - 7:25-28

Serves IN HEAVEN - in the presence of the Father.  Heb. 9:11, 25

Hebrews 9:11 - "But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things to come, He entered through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation;"

Hebrews 9:25 - "nor was it that He would offer Himself often, as the high priest enters the holy place year by year with blood that is not his own."

Mediator of the NEW / better covenant - 9:15

Hebrews 9:15 - "For this reason He is the mediator of a new covenant, so that, since a death has taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were committed under the first covenant, those who have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance."

A better hope - for those who come to God through Him. 7:19

Hebrews 7:19 - "(for the Law made nothing perfect), and on the other hand there is a bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God."

Hebrews 6:19 - "This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil,"

Hebrews 3:6 - "but Christ was faithful as a Son over His house—whose house we are, if we hold fast our confidence and the boast of our hope firm until the end."

Hebrews 6:11 - "And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence so as to realize the full assurance of hope until the end,"

Hebrews 10:23 - "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful;"

Truly, "We have an altar from which those who serve the tabernacle have no right to eat" (Heb. 13:10).
