God has reasons for His instructions – they are for our good always (Deut.    ).

            The SEPARATION and ISOLATION (even by driving out all the inhabitants) was to keep WHAT HAPPENED from happening!

God is a JEALOUS God – we are to love Him with ALL of our heart, soul, and strength.

God rules in the kingdoms of men! He used them for HIS purposes.

God’s purposes will NOT be thwarted!

God allows for rebellion – but not without consequences!

Covenantal Faithfulness vs. Unfaithfulness – blessings and curses of Deut 28-30. God KEEPS HIS WORD –

God’s grace – as He time and again, upon repentance and returning, forgives and restores!

God not only raised up men, he PROVIDED FOR them –

—The Book of Judges— The Book of the ACTS of the Holy Spirit

1. The Spirit of the Lord came upon Othniel (Judg. 3:10).

2. The Spirit of the Lord came upon Gideon (6:34).

3. The Spirit of the Lord came upon Jephthah (11:29).

4. The Spirit of the Lord came upon Samson (14:19).

Good people sometimes turn away from God (Gideon)

‘Bad’ people sometimes return to God (Samson)

Faithful 2nd generations are DIFFICULT TO COME BY!

God can win with ‘few or many’ – i.e., Gideon’s army reduced (300 against 135,000 - 8:10)

1 Samuel 14:6 6 Then Jonathan said to the young man who was carrying his armor, "Come and let us cross over to the garrison of these uncircumcised; perhaps the Lord will work for us, for the Lord is not restrained to save by many or by few."

God can use you –

·       trust/obey and be blessed AS HE USES YOU

·       Rebel – and be condemned AS HE USES YOU

One of the things to always look for as you read the Bible it what you learn about God. 3 "This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. (John 17:3)
