God’s View of the World as Revealed Thru Isaiah

God’s View of the World as Revealed Thru Isaiah

As you read Isaiah, try to remember that he is the mouthpiece for God. God is speaking through him unto men, in particular, to the nation of Israel but also unto the nations. Most of what we read (and think) is simply the view that MEN have of this world and its situation. As men, we are severely limited in such a view. We are limited by our knowledge: by our extremely limited knowledge of history, of ALL the world events, of cause and effect, etc., etc. Yet, we make judgments and pronouncements. Many even use such limited understanding to bring judgment and indictments upon God himself.

Not only are we limited in our knowledge, but we are skewed in our moral judgments! What REALLY is right or wrong? What are the important parts of life that men should be seeking? What character is to be cultivated? Yes, we all have decided these questions, but are we correct? At the heart of this problem, God has spoken: “8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith Jehovah. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:8-9).

We then have a way of viewing things from God’s viewpoint: read Isaiah as the Word of the Lord! The problem we face is our own pride and prejudices. We do NOT know as we should. Let us come to the LORD and let Him instruct us: “3 And many peoples shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of Jehovah, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of Jehovah from Jerusalem” (Isaiah 2:3).

And again: “1 Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. 2 Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labor for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness” (Isaiah 55:1-2).

While many of us have memorized Isa. 55:8-9, many more of us need to enlarge our quote to include vs. 6-7! “6 Seek ye Jehovah while he may be found; call ye upon him while he is near: 7 let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return unto Jehovah, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon” (Isaiah 55:6-7).
