Hezekiah Prays  - Isaiah 37

Hezekiah Prays  - Isaiah 37

Read again Hezekiah's prayer (37:14-20).

When in trouble, Hezekiah prayed about it.

He begins his prayer with praise and acknowledgment of God. He affirms his faith in the God who answers prayer. He implores the creator of the world. He acknowledges that God is the true king overall.

He was specific in the problem. Yes, God already knew what Sennacherib had done and was planning on doing, but Hezekiah talks to God about this problem!

He was specific in his request: O LORD our God, deliver us from his hand.

He looked beyond the deliverance from Sennacherib unto the glory of God, that in delivering them God would be made known unto the whole earth.

Such can serve as an example of how a godly man responds to trouble. He prays to God. He is specific about his problem. He makes request of what he desires God to do. He views not his own comfort from the answer but the glory of God. Do you pray like this?
