Listening To Jesus - Luke 21

Listening To Jesus - Luke 21

Jesus, a man of many missions! Not only to be our savior, but also He came as a teacher. In the book of Luke he is called ‘Teacher” 11 times: by Peter, Synagogue servant, people in the crowds, lawyers, a ruler, Pharisees, scribes, chief priests, his disciple! In addition, Luke records 11 times that he was teaching! Finally, Luke records his enemies making the charge against Him: “He stirs up the people, teaching all over Judea, starting from Galilee even as far as this place”

The thought of being a student and hearing Him teach in person is almost unthinkable! Yet, we as disciples, are to be students/learners/doers of His teaching. The gospel writers wrote down His teachings and they have been preserved, transmitted, and translated in our very language! While those who heard him in person for the most part only heard parts of his teaching, we have a record of many different times and subjects that He taught! We can ‘sit at the feet of Jesus’ any time and any day that we choose to. We can read and study His teaching and imbibe His wisdom as often as we want to. We in fact, as disciples, are instructed to be taught to keep all of His teachings (cp. Matt. 28:18-20).

While we can not hear him in person, we have the full message of His teaching! SO, what are we doing with it? How diligently do we study His teaching?
