Spiritual War - Ephesians 6

Spiritual War - Ephesians 6

11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Eph. 6:11-12)

Paul also wrote of this in 2 Corinthians 10:3-5: “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ,…”

As we go through our normal day, the thought of actually being in a war or being under attack seldom crosses our minds. Yet, it is constantly there. Satan won’t do a frontal attack, showing himself to be the enemy of God and all righteousness, so he goes about his business mostly undetected.

Peter warned: Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world. (1 Peter 5:8-9)

Thus we are admonished to Resist – firm in THE FAITH.  Paul instructed us to Put on the WHOLE armor of God (Eph. 6:11). OUR battle is to be won by FAITHFULNESS!

This brings up the never ending question: What battle did you fight yesterday? What battles are you going to face today? If we don’t know where the battle is, we are in grave danger of losing the war!  Be prepared.
