Consider Jesus - Hebrews 3
Consider Jesus - Hebrews 3
(1) Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of our confession; (2) He was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also was in all His house. Hebrews 3:1-2
Jesus! Here in Hebrews 3 we are exhorted to CONSIDER JESUS! According to the Enhanced Strongs Lexicon, the Greek word is said to be found in 14 occurrences; AV translates as “consider” seven times, “behold” four times, “perceive” twice, and “discover” once. 1 to perceive, remark, observe, understand. 2 to consider attentively, fix one’s eyes or mind upon.
I would suggest starting here in this chapter, make a list of the titles, positions, actions, and descriptions of Jesus.
· Apostle of our faith (vs. 1)
· Our High Priest (1)
· The Faithful son of God. (vs. 2)
· The builder of all things (vs. 4)
Why this admonition to ‘consider Jesus’? Because He is the foundation of our faith, the basis of our hope for eternal life, the author of our confession, etc. When life becomes difficult, when you become discouraged with your situation, when you are tempted by the world – Consider, perceive, observe, understand WHO Jesus is. Fix your eyes upon Jesus.
Thus this section concludes: “… Christ was faithful as a Son over His house—whose house we are, if we hold fast our confidence and the boast of our hope firm until the end. (Hebrews 3:6)
What have you set your eyes, your mind, your heart upon?
