I Am A Church Member
I Am a Church Member
Brenden Ashby
What does church membership mean to you? For many it is just the process to get their name and photo in a directory. But did you know that God has place a lot of responsibility on being a member of a church?
Consider just these seven responsibilities we see in Scripture:
1. Attend the assemblies regularly (Heb. 10:25).
2. Preserve the gospel (Gal. 1:6).
3. Encourage other Christians (Rom. 12:9-13).
4. Call sin into account (1 Cor. 5).
5. Equip other believers (Eph. 4:11-12).
6. Evangelize the lost (Matt. 28:18-20).
7. Follow our leaders (Heb. 13:17).
Being a church member is far more than just showing up for sixty minutes each Sunday morning. It is a great privilege and responsibility to be a church member. God has called each of us to uphold the gospel, call sin into account, encourage other Christians and share His gospel with the lost.
The question is, will I answer the call? Will I do the work God has given me to do as a member of a local church?
