Isaiah Forty
Isaiah Forty
Isaiah Forty is one Great chapter. It begins by telling us of the mercy and kindness of God. Having spent most of the previous 39 chapters proclaiming judgment against sin, God now proclaims comfort. God prepared the way for us to return to Him (1-5). We learn from the NT quotes of this chapter that such way was prepared by John the Baptist and that Jesus is the way (John 14:6). To God be the glory!
God's word is sure, steadfast, and eternal. It is based upon the foundation of God himself for He is sure, steadfast, and eternal. People will come and go, God's word will stand forever. Glory be to the LORD. (6-8).
God is Great. He is great in Wisdom as is shown in all the minute details of creation that He took into consideration when He created the heavens and the earth (12-14). He knows every star by name (26). His understanding is unsearchable (28). God is great for in his might He takes his power and rules in the kingdoms of men (vs. 10). God is great in his kindness as he shepherds us a tender lambs (vs. 11). God is great when compared the foolishness of idols (18-20). God is great in his knowledge for he knows our ways and our doings (27). To God be Glory.
Behold your GOD! (9). The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. To God be Glory.
To God be the glory, great things He hath done;
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life an atonement for sin,
And opened the life gate that all may go in.
Great things He hath taught us, great things He hath done,
And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;
But purer, and higher, and greater will be
Our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see.
Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!
Let the earth hear His Voice!
Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!
Let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father thro' Jesus the Son,
And give Him the glory, great things He hath done
