Gift of God's Grace

Gift of God's Grace

When we were sinners - Christ died for us.    Rom. 5:6

When we were ungodly - Christ died for us.   Rom. 5:6

When we were enemies - Christ died to reconcile us.   Rom. 5:10

When we were children of the Devil - God adopted us as His children.  1John 3:1

When we were without hope - God gave us that to hope for.  Eph. 2:12-13

When we were dead in sin - He made us alive in Christ.  Rom. 6:3-4; Col. 2:13

When we were far off - He brought us near through Christ.   Eph. 2:13

When we were transgressors of His law - He forgave us.  Col. 2:13

When we were filthy - He washed us In Christ's blood.  1Cor. 6:9-11.

When we were ignorant - He revealed His will unto us.  Eph. 4:17-20

When we were weak and unable to save ourselves - Christ died for us.  Rom. 5:6

When we were citizens of the kingdom of darkness - He translated us into the kingdom of His dear son.  Col. 1:13

When we were astray - He found us.  1Pet. 2:25

When we were unlovable - He loved us. Rom. 5:8, John 3:16, 1John 3:1

When we deserved wrath and condemnation - He reacted with mercy, kindness, and grace. Rom. 5:10; 1 Thess. 1:10;

When we had fallen short because of sin - He justified us through Jesus blood. Rom. 3:23-24.

When we were uncircumcised in heart - He circumcised us with circumcision of Christ, putting off the body of flesh. Col. 2:11

When we were not His people - He made us to be the people of God - 1Pet. 2:10

When we were sold unto sin - He ransomed / redeemed us through the blood of Jesus.. 1Pet. 1:18, Titus. 2:14

When we were stained with sin - He purified us. 1Pet. 1:22

First off, it is often hard to get people to confess what they ARE without Christ (read all the 'when we were' statements again!). Second of all, as Christians we often forget what we WERE and begin thinking more highly of ourselves than we ought. Let us remember what we were and what God has done for us. Let us acknowledge God's gift and rejoice in His love.     Hugh DeLong
