God And Jesus On The Throne
God and Jesus on the Throne - Rev. 4 and 5
Where is God when things are going wrong? Does Jesus know what we have to deal with? Does He care? If ONLY I could see Him. I don't know if that thinking process was going on with John, but I know that God DID allow John to see what was going on in heaven while John was dealing with tribulation on earth. God opened up the door and showed John what was happening behind the scenes.
What John saw was that everything in heaven continued as it had since long ago. God was ruling upon the throne. The heavenly host, as great and awesome as they were, were bowing before God and giving Him glory. "And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and within, and day and night they never cease to say, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!” (Rev. 4:8). The 24 elders joined in such praise, proclaiming: "Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created" (Rev. 4:11).
He also saw that Jesus, the lamb of God, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, was also there. The angels of heaven joined their voices in praise: "…saying with a loud voice, “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!”" (Rev. 5:12).
So it is today and will be until God decides to end this current period of time. God rules over His creation. God observes and judges. Jesus, having overcome, is sitting at the right-hand of the Father. There is more to our existence then what we see in the temporal world. Our hope and trust is in God our creator. Though things may be bleak in our world, things are under control because God rules.
Does Jesus know? Does Jesus Care? Yes. Therefore Peter wrote: "Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you" (1Pet. 5:6-7). We need to learn to trust in God, particularly when times are tough. Hugh DeLong
