Reading Revelation Chapters 21-22

Reading Chapters 21 and 22

The persecution is over. Satan himself is cast into hell. Death and Hades are no more. NOW what? The saints are received into the presence of God to dwell forever more. No more tears. All is made new. He is our God and we are His children.

There is no more evil for us to deal it for ‘the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars’ have been cast into the lake of fire. The Bride of the Lamb is bedecked in jewels. The heavenly city is perfect in size and glory. There is no more temple for God is the temple. The people of God dwell with God. God will provide all of their needs. Even the sun and the moon are no longer needed for God provides the light. The river of the water of life and the tree of life are there.

If one could make up a travel brochure for heaven could it be anymore enticing than John’s description here? It makes you want to quickly pack your bags. Wait… you don’t need any bags. You don’t need anything of this world. You need Jesus. He is our salvation. He has washed us in His blood and made us ready for this existence. He has provided for us to become children of God. He has prepared this place for us.

It is of little wonder that Paul could say that the tribulations of this life, no matter how terrific they may be, are not to be compared with the glory to be revealed. What a joy to hear the Master say: “Well done, thou good and faithful servant! Enter into the joys of your Lord prepared for you.”   Hugh DeLong
