Finished Reading the New Testament 2014

Finished

Today we finish reading the whole New Testament for the year. It is both an uplifting reading and a frightening one. Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book. The basic and reoccurring word is the encouragement to ‘be faithful.’ The Lord is coming and He will repay each one for what he has done (12). Those who have washed their robes (in the blood of the Lamb) will have the right to the tree of life (14). They will be allowed to enter into the holy city and live forever with God.

The fearful thing is simply that outside the city "the dogs and sorcerers and the sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood” (vs. 15).

We have placed before a simple but profound choice. The bride and the Spirit say ‘come’. If you are thirsty for God and righteousness, come drink of the free water that Jesus provides. Sadly, many will reject this invitation and continue in the ways of the sinful world. What are you choosing?

Jesus has promised: “Surely I am coming soon.” He always keeps his word. Even so, Come, Lord Jesus. Amen.   Hugh DeLong
