What To Do When Your Faith Grows Weak

What to Do When Your Faith Grows Weak

Growing weak in faith is a real possibility. Are you surprised to hear me say that no Christian is immune from this problem?  Well don’t be, for it is absolutely true.  Perhaps I could write on the negative side about what causes this problem, but just now I would like to pursue the positive and tell you some things you can do when your faith is growing weak.

Get back in contact with the Word of God

Turn back to the word of God which can mend and heal your sick faith.  The apostle Paul wrote, “So, faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ” (Rom 10:17). Sometimes when we are sick we keep putting off a visit to the doctor.  Finally we admit that we need help and we go.  Usually, we are glad we did.  When you see that you are getting sick spiritually, don’t delay – do something about it.  Get back to the worship services and hear the word of God again. Get back to the Bible classes where the word is being taught. Determine in your heart, “Come what may, I will not miss another service”, and then get up and do it. Within a short period you will see your sick faith growing strong again. Try it!

Get in touch with spiritually-minded people

When we are physically ill it makes no sense to run away from the people that can help us. Christians draw strength from each other. Children of God are to “bear one another’s burdens..” (Gal 6:2). If you see your faith declining, call some faithful Christian and say, “I need a friend – my faith is growing weak, will you help me?” He or she will help you. This person will help you turn back to the Word of God. Almost instantly, your sick faith will start recovering. Try it!

You are not talking with God - start praying

Christians are invited to take it to the Lord in prayer. “Casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you” (1Pet 5:7). When you are in pain you don’t hesitate to tell the doctor about it. Just open up your heart and tell God you are in trouble and need help. Confess your sins, repent, and ask for forgiveness, Turn to His Word, read His directions on how to have a healthy faith again. When you do this, your faith will quickly start getting better. Try it!
