Teach Us To Pray - Luke 11:1
Teach Us To Pray - Luke 11:1
“It happened that while Jesus was praying in a certain place, after He had finished, one of His disciples said to Him, "Lord, teach us to pray just as John also taught his disciples" (Luke 11:1).
Jesus prayed. The apostles were impressed as they were privileged to observe the Son of God talking to His Father.
Here in Luke 11, such prayer of Jesus is mentioned as if it were a normal activity, AND IT WAS! As you read through Luke, observe how many times prayer is mentioned.
- He OFTEN prayer – Luke 3:21-22; 5:16
- He prayed when he was tested by his enemies – Luke 6:11-12
- He gave thanks for his food – Luke 9:16; 22:17-19; 24:30
- He prayed for his friends – Luke 22:31-32.
- He prayed as he faced his crucifixion – Luke 22:40-46
- He taught his disciple both how to pray and TO pray – Luke 11:1-4; 18:1; 2-8; 9-14; 6:28; 22:46; 23:33-34.
Lord, Teach US to pray! It can be taught. We can learn to pray. We must desire such. Then, we must pray. Pray without ceasing (1Thess. 5:17).

NOTE: You really need to look up and read each of the above scriptures! Read them all, in one sitting, one after another. Let this aspect of Jesus amaze you. If He, the Son of God, found prayer so needful, how much MORE SHOULD WE!
