Ministers Of The New Covenant – 2Cor. 3

Ministers Of The New Covenant – 2Cor. 3

God had promised that He would establish a new covenant when the son of David came as the Messiah (cp. Jer. 31:31-33, etc.). Jesus, the son of David, has come and has given us this new covenant. In instituting the Lord’s Supper, he took the cup and said: “... this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins (Matt. 26:28). The Hebrew writer could say that He IS the mediator of the new covenant (Heb.9:15).

Paul plainly wrote that the apostles were “ministers of a new covenant’ (2Cor. 3:6). In this chapter, he goes on to contrast the two covenants.

It is by this NEW covenant that we now serve God (Heb. 12:24; 13:20).
