Truth and Disciples - 2John

Truth and Disciples - 2John

1 The elder to the chosen lady and her children, whom I love in truth; and not only I, but also all who know the truth, 2 for the sake of the truth which abides in us and will be with us forever:…” (2 John 1:1-2)

Thus a simple outline concerning truth:

1. We not only CAN, but as disciples we DO know the truth.

2. We love the truth.

3. The truth will be with us forever.

4. The truth abides in us.

5. We walk in the truth (vs. 4).

Satan introduced lying. God’s word is NOT true. You will NOT die. There is a better way to live than trusting God. Eve was deceived. So it continues today.

God does not, can not lie. God’s word is truth. God has revealed himself and His ways unto us. Jesus is the ultimate revelation of such truth. He is the way, the truth, and the life.

15 It is a trustworthy statement, deserving full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am foremost of all. (1 Timothy 1:15).

The emotions and thoughts that can happen when exposed to truth: shame, guilt, fear, dread – I have sinned against God. But there is also joy, relief, hope, love – in Jesus I am forgiven. This produces desire, praise, submission – I eagerly and willingly give my whole self unto Him. All this in a moment of time, at the same time.

As Jesus said: you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free (John 8:32). Jesus is truth (John 14:6). God’s word is truth (John 17:17). What relationship do you have with truth?
