To Be Pleasing Unto Him - 2Cor 5:9

To Be Pleasing Unto Him - 2Cor 5:9

Paul wrote: “Therefore, being always of good courage, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord— for we walk by faith, not by sight— we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord. Therefore we also have as our ambition, whether at home or absent, to be pleasing to Him” (2 Cor. 5:6-9).

Therefore, being always of good courage,

In this body of flesh, we groan and are burdened, not to be rid of the body but to have it ‘swallowed up by life’: the mortal to be changed to immortal, the weak to be made strong, the temporary to be made eternal, that which is absent from the Lord to be in the presence of the Lord.

We walk by FAITH (trust).

We not only believe IN God, we TRUST Him. We not only believe THAT Jesus is the son of God, we TRUST Him. Of course that means believing that what is said is true, but it also means trusting the One who said it.

Therefore we also have as our ambition… to be pleasing to Him.

Seeing that we love Him with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength, we long to be with Him. We have joyfully entered into covenant relationship with Him. We “… walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God (Col. 1:10). Whatever we do, in word or deed, we do all in His name (Col. 3:16). We let our light shine by having our life filled with good works so that people will glorify our Father (Matt. 5:16). All is done ‘to the praise of His glory’ (Eph. 1: 6, 12, 14).
