The Power Of God Displayed - Exodus 14:31

The Power Of God Displayed - Exodus 14:31

Pharaoh asked: “Who is Jehovah that I should obey His voice?” (Exod. 5:2). Moses has already discovered this in the burning bush and rod that turned into a serpent. Now it is Pharaoh’s turn to learn who God is. In answer to this question, I wrote in the margin of my bible: “You are about to find out!” And find out he did!

16 "But, indeed, for this reason I have allowed you to remain, in order to show you My power and in order to proclaim My name through all the earth” (Exodus 9:16). Paul quotes this in Romans 9: “For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I raised you up, to demonstrate My power in you, and that My name might be proclaimed throughout the whole earth.”

With such a demonstration of power, God shows himself to be GOD, the ONLY God, the God over ALL. Not only did Egypt see this, but Israel also saw and was strengthened in faith. “31 When Israel saw the great power which the Lord had used against the Egyptians, the people feared the Lord, and they believed in the Lord and in His servant Moses” (Exodus 14:31).

God has demonstrated his Power and Godhood in the creation of the universe: “18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse” (Romans 1:18-20).

Such was acknowledged even long ago in the Psalms: “1 The heavens are telling of the glory of God; And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands. 2 Day to day pours forth speech, And night to night reveals knowledge. 3 There is no speech, nor are there words; Their voice is not heard. 4 Their line has gone out through all the earth, And their utterances to the end of the world. In them He has placed a tent for the sun. 5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber; It rejoices as a strong man to run his course. 6 Its rising is from one end of the heavens, And its circuit to the other end of them; And there is nothing hidden from its heat” (Psalms 19:1-6).

So, for us who trust in God by trusting in Jesus, we must also behold and learn this of God: “20 Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us,  21 to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen” (Ephesians 3:20-21).

God has displayed His power, are you trusting Him?
