The LORD Helped David - 1Chronicles 18:6

The LORD Helped David - 1Chronicles 18:6

“And the Lord helped David wherever he went. 1Chron. 18:6

This is simply the continuation of David’s story. This has been the story of David’s life so far. He trusted in the LORD. He walked with God. He was obedient from the heart. He molded his character after God’s own character.

This was God’s promise unto David: 8 "I have been with you wherever you have gone, and have cut off all your enemies from before you; and I will make you a name like the name of the great ones who are in the earth. (1 Chronicles 17:8).

The Psalmist wrote:

1 I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; From where shall my help come?
2 My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.
3 He will not allow your foot to slip; He who keeps you will not slumber.
4 Behold, He who keeps Israel Will neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade on your right hand.
6 The sun will not smite you by day, Nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord will protect you from all evil; He will keep your soul.
8 The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in From this time forth and forever. (Psalms 121:1-8).

Thus, Paul could say that the ‘things written before were for our admonition and learning…  God is there for us. God’s faithfulness is never ending. Paul then wrote to the Philippians: “9 The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you” (Philippians 4:9).

We are going thru difficult times, times that test our faith. We need this assurance: God is faithful. We need to be grounded in God’s character and faithfulness. We need to respond to these times by practicing the things that we have learned, received, heard, and seen in Paul. THEN, assuredly – the God of peace will be with us. Trust the LORD.
