Examine yourselves - 2 Cor. 13:5

Examine yourselves 2 Cor. 13:5

5 Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you fail the test? (2 Corinthians 13:5).

Such an examination of ourselves requires several things of us:

A standard. Of course THE FAITH is the only standard of knowing that you are ‘in the faith’. Hence James

A knowledge of the exam. We are instructed to “16 Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God” (Colossians 3:16).

An unbiased look. This is difficult because it is too easy to excuse oneself for the things we clearly see as wrong in others.

A will to change. To be ‘in the faith’ means making daily corrections of our thoughts, attitudes, and actions.

How are you doing with your exam?
