Not Everyone Believes

As we read Mark chapter 4, we see great crowds of people gathering to hear Jesus teach! As Matthew wrote: “the crowds were amazed at His teaching; for He was teaching them as one having authority, and not as their scribes” (Matt. 7:28-29). Not only was his teaching different, but it was accompanied by the great miracles that he did – signifiying that He was indeed the Son of God. YET, much to our amazement, many people saw and heard but refused to follow Him!

Jesus tells the parable of the sower. In this parable he explains the situation. There was ONE SEED, but many different soils / hearts! Some rejected him without much consideration! Some found him a novelty but were more enamored with the world and life. Others believed/trust him – but only ‘for a while’! With the demands of discipleship came opposition and difficult situations. There was only a small group that saw and heard Jesus that actually followed him faithfully.

This continues to be the case! The reaction of people towards Jesus speaks more about THEIR heart than who Jesus really is! So, having now read 4 chapters of Mark’s gospel, what do you say? Who do you say that Jesus is? Are you trusting and faithfully following Him?
