Our Confidence - Hebrews 10

Our Confidence - Hebrews 10

As we get to the end of the book of Hebrews, the writer begins to make application of all the points he has made. What we have is BETTER – better revelation, better land promise, better leader than Moses, better priesthood than Levi, better hope, better covenant, better High priest, better sacrifice, better tabernacle, better promises.

Seeing that God has provided all of this for us in Jesus, the gift of His son, we can draw near unto God with confidence:

19 Since therefore, brethren, we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water” (Hebrews 10:19-22).

Such confidence and assurance is not in ourselves and our abilities to serve God, but in the very love of God for us as shown in the giving of Jesus. As Paul stated: “10 For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. 11 And not only this, but we also exult in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation” (Romans 5:10-11).

It is with such hope and promise that we draw near to God. We come with thankful hearts to praise Him: “15 Through Him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name” (Hebrews 13:15). Are you daily praising God for what He does for us in Jesus?
