Entrusting Your Soul - 1Peter 4

Entrusting Your Soul - 1Peter 4

18 And if it is with difficulty that the righteous is saved, what will become of the godless man and the sinner? 19 Therefore, those also who suffer according to the will of God shall entrust their souls to a faithful Creator in doing what is right.” ( Peter 4:18-19)

Peter is nearing the end of his life. He has been faithful in his walk with the Lord, and experience has taught him that life as a disciple is NOT always easy. In fact, it can be downright hard. He was shortly to have to be martyred for his faith.

He therefore writes that it is with difficulty that the righteous are saved. The difficulty is in remaining faithful against the adversity of the world. The bottom line that should strengthen us in this is that God is faithful. God has made promises to us, and He is faithful. He said what He meant, He meant what He said, and He does what said He would do. We need to make sure that we know what He said!

Life will pose many challenges to your faith! In the midst of such we are instructed to always do what is right, trusting God. When it doesn’t make sense, trust God. When it poses danger and hardship, trust God. At such times we especially need to NOT lean upon our own understanding but, letting the words of Christ dwell in us, we faithfully follow His teaching.

Are you being faithful?  Are you trusting our faithful God?
