Ephesians 2 Jew and Gentile THOUGHTS

Ephesians 2 Jew and Gentile THOUGHTS

BOTH Jew and Gentile were dead in sin and have now been made alive IN CHRIST - (1-10)

See all the ‘in Him’ concepts of chapter 1:1-13!

Ephesians 2 and Colossians 2 are parallel!   BY FAITH does NOT exclude repentance/baptism!

Ephesians = ‘saved by faith’ – Col. Saved By faith WHEN BAPTIZED

The DIVISION (dividing wall vs. 14) between Gentiles and Jews = THE LAW/covenant!

Gentiles were NOT under that covenant (although they could take upon themselves to enter into such by becoming proselytes, with limitations)

That ‘enmity’ has been ‘abolished’ (vs. 15), broken down (vs. 14).

BOTH are now ONE (body) IN CHRIST, there IS ONE Body, the church (Eph. 4:4-6).

BOTH – reconciled in one body (16), have access in one Spirit to the Father (18), are of God’s household (19), are built into one new temple (20-22).

This will culminate in the teaching that we (YOU) are to be “diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” (Eph. 4:3). We are to endeavor (work at, labor at) to KEEP the unity of the Spirit (the unity that the Spirit as accomplished in Jesus). What are you doing to maintain the unity of the one body? What attitudes and concepts have you changed in order to accomplish this?
