Judas and Satan - Luke 22:3

Judas and Satan - Luke 22:3

Satan entered Judas…  BUT there is a bit of history behind this statement!

He was a thief...  a lust for money  John 12:6
6
Now he said this, not because he was concerned about the poor, but because he was a thief, and as he had the money box, he used to pilfer what was put into it.

He was thus tempted / enticed by his own lusts: James 1:13-14
13
Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am being tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust.

BEFORE this last supper, he has been tempted: John 13:2
2
During supper, the devil having already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, to betray Him,

The opportunity to fulfill his lust for money came from those opposing Jesus: Luke 22:2
2
The chief priests and the scribes were seeking how they might put Him to death; for they were afraid of the people.

THUS, he chose to turn Jesus over to them for 30 pieces of silver: Luke 22:6
6
So he consented, and began seeking a good opportunity to betray Him to them apart from the crowd.

Combining the lust for money and the Jewish leaders desire to put Jesus to death, provided the opportunity for this evil collaboration. All along this journey, he could have said NO! No more!

1 Peter 5:9
9
But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world.

James 4:7
7
Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

In the end, Judas is responsible for his choices, including this one.
