Mark 2 - Able to Forgive Sins
Mark 2 - Able to Forgive Sins
Who can forgive sins? Jesus? Really? Forgive sins? [reread Mark 2:1-12]
At the heart of this question is the reality of God. There is a God and He will sit in judgment against all who sin (transgress His revealed will).
Only God can forgive? True, as sin is at its base against God. YET, Jesus claimed (and here proved) his ability to forgive sins. Even more so with His resurrection from the dead.
The implied truth here then is the deity of Jesus: His being able to forgive sins shows He is God manifest in the flesh. In HIM (and Him alone) mankind can find forgiveness.
Acts 5:31 "He is the one whom God exalted to His right hand as a Prince and a Savior, to grant repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
Acts 4:12 "And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved."
Thus the answer to our question: “What shall we do?” – Acts 2:38-39 38 Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 "For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself."
Are you Trusting Jesus?
