The Power Of Jesus - Mark 5

The Power Of Jesus - Mark 5

This demon possessed man was unable to be bound by men, this was because he had been ‘bound’ (possessed) by demons. Jesus did the unthinkable, He UNBOUND him from the power of demons AND the power of sin.

So it is with us, we have been bound by the power of sin and no one can free us from sin. Except Jesus. That was the very reason that He left is position in heaven and became flesh (cp. John 1:1, 14; Phil. 2:5-12). As Paul stated of his condition as a sinner before God:

13 even though I was formerly a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent aggressor. Yet I was shown mercy because I acted ignorantly in unbelief; 14 and the grace of our Lord was more than abundant, with the faith and love which are found in Christ Jesus. 15 It is a trustworthy statement, deserving full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am foremost of all. 16 Yet for this reason I found mercy, so that in me as the foremost, Jesus Christ might demonstrate His perfect patience as an example for those who would believe in Him for eternal life. (1 Timothy 1:13-16)

He demonstrated His power here by casting out the demons. Even more so, He demonstrated His power to forgive sin by the resurrection (Romans 1:4). He came to save sinners. That means ME. It also means YOU. Are you trusting in Him to save you?

Colossians 1:12-14 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light. 13 For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
