Bearing His Reproach

Bearing His Reproach

Hebrews 13:12-13 (12) Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people through His own blood, suffered outside the gate. (13) So, let us go out to Him outside the camp, bearing His reproach.

‘Outside’? This is NOT about location! This is about ALLEGIANCE and discipleship. Jesus came, lived, died because he was REJECTED, raised, and glorified. He also will return – a great day of rejoicing among His faithful followers but a day of indescribable horror for those who chose to not be His disciple.

As Paul declared in Philippians 2:10-11: “ (10) so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, (11) and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

The problem has always been about our relationship with the world – with the world view, with the world’s morality, with the world’s religious concepts. Assimilation happens, often so subtly that we miss the signs. We have witnessed a huge shift in such ‘worldliness’ in the last 20 years. Unimaginable to us older generations. BUT, ‘normal’ and ‘reasonable’ to those born during this time. As such, faithful disciples simply are outside the norms. So be it. “let us go out to Him outside the camp, bearing His reproach.”.  Where are you standing?
