This is a Trustworthy Statement
Paul wrote to Timothy: “ It is a trustworthy statement: For if we died with Him, we will also live with Him; 12 If we endure, we will also reign with Him; If we deny Him, He also will deny us; If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself” ( 2 Timothy 2:11-13).
IF we died with Him, we will also live with Him. To die with Christ is to die to self and sin. We were dead IN sin, now we are dead TO sin. We were buried with Christ and now have been raised to walk in newness of life. In our conversion, we were forgiven and made alive in Christ.
IF we endure, we will also reign with Him. Being a disciple of Christ in this evil world has obstacles. All that live godly will suffer persecution. In the world you will have tribulation, in Christ you have peace. You have need of patience, that after you have done the will of God, you will receive the promise. Be thou faithful unto death, and you will receive a crown of life.
IF we deny Him, He will deny. Facing such tribulation, SOME will deny Jesus. Jesus warned: “Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 10:32-33).
If WE are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself. God says what He means, means what He says, and does what he says He will do. OUR unfaithfulness does not result in God’s unfaithfulness. Your faith is in Christ / God and not in ME (or any other men). If some turn away and deny Christ, GOD remains faithful. That includes His faithfulness fulfill his warnings of judgment and condemnation to the unfaithful.
Are you faithful of faithless?
