Living Eternally In The Presence of God
Living Eternally In The Presence of God
We have a rather constant inquisitiveness about eternity. We KNOW that we will die (or be gathered with Jesus and the saints – 1 Thess. 4), but what will that be like? As Peter writes his last letter before being martyred, he writes of the coming of Jesus and the coming new heaven and earth.
What will such be like? Can we begin to fathom it? What we do know for certain is that we will live in the very presence of GOD. We will live there without FEAR for God will accept us. We will live there knowing we are in the presence of GOD!
What our current knowledge of living in the presence of God is like can be seen in Revelation 4 and 5 – worship! And again in Rev. 7, 11, 14, 15, 19!
Boring you say? Only for those who have not caught even a glimpse of the glory of God. Our thoughts must transcend this mortal existence. New heaven and earth? An existence where there is no evil? Bodies changed and fit for that very existence? To be placed in the presence of the One we love with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength?
I still think on what an aging saintly sister said years ago: Heaven is a prepared place for a prepared people. ARE you prepared? Are you anxiously waiting, saying: “even so, Lord come quickly”?
