Mark 2

Mark 2

Jesus forgave sins. The Jewish leaders ARE correct that sins that are against God can only be forgiven by God. No wonder Thomas would later proclaim: My Lord and My God (   ). John wrote John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The leaders of Israel thus condemned Jesus ‘for making himself equal with God’ (John 5:   ). Such were all proven to be TRUE by the act of forgiving sins.

Mark 2:5 And Jesus seeing their faith *said to the paralytic, "Son, your sins are forgiven."

Mark 2:7 "Why does this man speak that way? He is blaspheming; who can forgive sins but God alone?"

Mark 2:10-11 10 "But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins"—He *said to the paralytic, 11 "I say to you, get up, pick up your pallet and go home."

We note that He did so directly to this man. He is now in Heaven not speaking directly to people about their forgiveness. He HAS spoken to all people about forgiveness in the great Commission (Luke 24:44-47) which was carried out by the Apostles in their preaching and writing (Acts 2:38; 8:22), and thus their mention of this to those who became disciples (Romans 4:7; Eph. 4:32; Col. 2:13; James 5:15; 1 John 1:9; 2:12).

YOU can be forgiven, by the very words of Jesus in the great commission. Are you faithfully following His teaching?
