Jesus' compassion for the people - Mark 8:2

Jesus' compassion for the people - Mark 8:2

It is comforting to know that Jesus, with all of His power and authority, yet was often moved with compassion towards people. Upon noting some 4,000 people with Him, he remarked: “I feel compassion for the people because they have remained with Me now three days and have nothing to eat." (Mark 8:2)

A Leper - Mark 1:41 41 Moved with compassion, Jesus stretched out His hand and touched him, and *said to him, "I am willing; be cleansed."

Demon possessed – implored to accompany - Mark 5:19 19 And He did not let him, but He *said to him, "Go home to your people and report to them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He had mercy on you."

Feeding of the 5,000 – Mark 6:34; Matt. 14:14

Mark 6:34 34 When Jesus went ashore, He saw a large crowd, and He felt compassion for them because they were like sheep without a shepherd; and He began to teach them many things.

Matthew 14:14 14 When He went ashore, He saw a large crowd, and felt compassion for them and healed their sick.

Young demon possessed son - Mark 9:22 22 "It has often thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, take pity on us and help us!"

Upon seeing the people – distressed and dispirited.. without a shepherd - Matthew 9:36 36 Seeing the people, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dispirited like sheep without a shepherd.

2 blind men of Jericho - Matthew 20:34 34 Moved with compassion, Jesus touched their eyes; and immediately they regained their sight and followed Him.

Widow of Nain’s son - Luke 7:13 13 When the Lord saw her, He felt compassion for her, and said to her, "Do not weep."

This was summarized by the writer of Hebrews – 2:17-18 & 4:15

Hebrews 2:17-18 17 Therefore, He had to be made like His brethren in all things, so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. 18 For since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted.

Hebrews 4:15 15 For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.

Jesus was often moved with compassion on the situations of the people. He now is our Lord and King and He yet empathizes with us in our difficult situations. We love because he first loved us.
