Kingdom of God - Mark 9
Kingdom of God - Mark 9
In Mark’s gospel, one of the recurring topics is the kingdom of God. Here is a brief outline study of what we learn in our study of Mark. [I have included a list of these passages in Mark below.]
Kingdom of God - the ruling of the king - 1 royal power, kingship, dominion, rule. (see Enhanced Strong’s Lexicon below)
This was the message of John the Baptist - Preaching the kingdom of God – repent and believe in the gospel (Mark 1:15)
This kingdom is NOT of this world - John 18:36.
The nature / picture of this kingdom is discussed by Jesus in Mark 4! STUDY! See the list below, read it, organize your thinking, live it!
Disciples, when converted, are ‘transferred’ into this kingdom - the kingdom of God - Jesus. Colossians 1:13: “For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son.” This obviously was not a physical move. They still lived in this world, in the Roman empire, in the city of Colossae – yet they now are ‘in the kingdom’. The emperor of Rome does not rule their lives, Jesus does.
He IS king of kings and lord of lords - Rev. 17:14
He HAS made us a kingdom - and priests. (Rev. 1:6, 9). The priesthood of believers is the domain of the New Covenant and people’s relationship to God (see also 1 Peter 2:5, 9 where disciples are not just a priesthood, but a ROYAL priesthood). The priesthood co-exists at the same time as the kingdom.
Are you a citizen of this kingdom? Are you living according to the rule of our King Jesus?
